Maples, also known as maple seeds or maple peas, are small, hard legumes that resemble chickpeas in shape, but smaller and darker in colour.

• They resemble in taste and structure what carp eat in the wild (such as seeds and insect larvae), which inspires their trust.

• During soaking and cooking, a sweet smell and flavour is released that carp love. The liquid in which they are cooked is also ideal as an attractive addition.

• Due to their size, they are less attractive to smaller whitefish, which is useful if you are specifically targeting larger carp.

• They contain a good mix of carbohydrates and proteins.
